Do not overeat!
Calories matter!
Counting Calories Is the best way to track the amount of food we consume. Why? Because it matters! It is easy to fall into delusion that we don’t eat enough food when we don’t have any idea of how many calories (Kcal) the food contains. It can be easily fixed, all you have to do is read a label and learn to guess portions. I’m not saying you have to weight food and count on calculators, I’m only saying it is necessary to write down everything you eat during a day, and then in the evening to sit down and google those foods. Yes, it will take some of your time, but trust me, it is worth it! And the best thing is that after a week of doing this you will start to make conscious decision on whether to eat that snack or not. It is THE FIRST STEP!
What is calorie? Calorie is a unit of energy. We count the energy that is stored in foods in calories, and that is why we need to be aware of how many we eat. When we eat more energy than our body uses, it gets stored as fat and we get obese.
We often believe that if the food, or snack is small, it cannot make me gain weight. WRONG! Small 40gram Snickers bar contains 192Kcal! Starbucks’s hot chocolate is about 370Kcal! Most Cereals have over 100Kcal per 30 gram portion. Yes, 30 grams portion (a hand full) of cereals provide you on average 115 Kcal if you ate it dry! But we have to count milk in as well.
And meantime, when we eat food that fills our bellies up, like chicken with rice, spag bol., fish with potatoes or steak, often provide less calories than we think. And on top of calories, these full meals nourish the body with vitamins, minerals, proteins and fats.
What I mean by ‘Do not overeat ?
I’m simply asking you to stop eating after you finish your dish. This is simply because eating is addictive. You need to give your body time to realize that you’ve just eaten. This will get easier and easier with practice. Yes, it is going to be hard to resist that ice cream after dinner, but I swear it will get easier.
Also what you eat help with those after meal cravings.
The amount of calories your body needs depends on many factors, like sex, age, weight, physical activity, etc.
Bigger you are, the more calories your body needs to live. Yes, even simple tasks as your heart beat requires calories. And bigger people’s heart needs more energy to pump the blood.
The younger you are, the more calories you need. In young age the body is evolving and growing, and also the most hormonal changes are in young adults. All these processes in body burn calories.
Male sex requires more calories than female. This is due to hormonal differences.
And, of course, physical activity. Every step counts!
